Maui Helicopter Elopement – Demi & Mike

Demi & Mike ditched their big wedding plans and planned an entire Maui elopement with just a month’s notice.

I have a long history with Demi & Mike. They initially booked me back in 2019 for a couples session while they would be on Maui in 2020. Then covid happened so that trip was canceled. Then, they got engaged (!!) and planned a big destination wedding in Maui. When it came down to it, Demi & Mike realized that a big wedding wasn’t for them. We checked our calendars and found a date that worked for all of our schedules – just a month later. I’m so excited to share this Maui helicopter elopement with you!

The structure of the day:

We started off by meeting at Air Maui for their private helicopter tour of Maui and Molokai

A pit stop in Kahakuloa where Demi & Mike shared personal vows

Grabbed a delicious sandwich from a Maui favorite, Leoda’s Pie Shop.

Stopped by my favorite magical forest for some photos.

Headed to a cliffside for their official ceremony and sunset photos on the beach

Helicopter Elopement with Air Maui

Demi and Mike decided to skip the first look and to meet us dressed and ready at Air Maui for their helicopter tour. First, they cheered with a terrible canned cocktail (in their own words) and then we headed for the helicopter. The tour was incredible. It took us all over Maui and even over to Moloka’i to see some of the tallest sea cliffs in the world. Even if you aren’t wanting to have a helicopter elopement on Maui, I definitely recommend doing the tour during your trip.

Private vows at Kahakuloa

The helicopter tour has a partnership with this private lot of land in the middle of the old Kahakuloa town. We stopped, took a few photos, and Demi and Mike read their own personal vows to each other.

Stopping for lunch at Leoda’s

One of my favorite things about these all-day elopements is getting to stop at a local restaurant for a bite to eat. Leoda’s is really popular for its amazing sandwiches and pies. We decided to grab a few sandwiches, eat them in the parking lot, and then head to the next photo location. I loved how laid back Demi and Mike were about this. True Hawaii-style 🙂

Magical Forest

If you’ve been looking for Maui elopement locations, I’m sure you’ve seen this magical forest before. There really is nothing like it on Maui. I love taking couples here when the sun is still up high in the sky and it’s really warm out. It’s a nice break from the sunshine and just makes you feel like you’re in a fairyland.

Cliffside ceremony and beach sunset photos

Lastly, we headed to my favorite cliffside for Demi and Mike’s official wedding ceremony. After the ceremony, we headed down to the beach for our last bit of photos before the sunset. It was such a perfect day bouncing around the island and seeing the most beautiful sights.
