Favorite Maui Activities

You’ve come to Maui to celebrate one of the happiest days of your life! What an amazing place to do that – a beautiful island with a plethora of things to do!

West Side

If you’re looking for activities on the west side, maybe you’ve thought about going out from the Lahaina Harbor on the boats! My favorite company to take boat trips with is Trilogy. There are so many different boat tours you can do with Trilogy – from snorkeling Honolua Bay or Molokini (the tiny crater looking island) to taking a trip over to the island of Lana’i, and depending on the time of year (whale season is in the winter months), you can go out with them for a Whale Tour!

If you don’t want to go on a snorkel tour with a company but you’d rather go out on your own, you can rent snorkel gear at The Snorkel Store in Lahaina, and hop in the water at Honolua Bay! Get ready to see some crazy marine life.

If you’re staying near the west side and looking to surf some beginner to intermediate waves, Breakwall (near the Lahaina Harbor) will have some great waves for you! You can rent boards at Outrageous Surf right across the street.

South Side

The south side of the island is full of beaches where you can snorkel, go shelling, and enjoy all the sun you can handle! The Wailea Beach Path is a beautiful walk along the water in front of the resorts in Wailea – another one of my favorites.

If you’re looking for waves on the south side, you can find them at The Cove in Kihei. Right across the street is Hi Tech, the best place to rent boards on the south side!

Too much sun? You could spend the afternoon bopping around The Shops at Wailea, an outdoor shopping mall across from the Wailea Golf Club.

Upcountry + North Shore

Maui’s upcountry and north shore are going to have a bit more of the adventurous activities on island!
NorthShore Zipline has the best zip lining on the island, where you’ll soar through the giant eucalyptus trees down seven runs on the north shore.

There’s so much hiking to do on the Road to Hana! The best way  to experience it (in my opinion) is to rent a car and explore the road yourself. If you’re not keen on driving small, one lane roads, you can book a tour with Hike Maui to take you out to some of the hikes on the Road to Hana, or to do a full Hana day adventure!

By far one of my very favorite things to do on Maui is watching the sunrise or sunset at Haleakala, the volcanic crater (don’t worry – it isn’t erupting!) If you’re wanting to catch the sunrise at the top of the 10,000ft mountain, first check to see if there are any reservations available. If not, no stress – they’re hard to come by these days. Sunset at Haleakala is just as magical! Nothing beats driving upcountry through the clouds to see one of the most breathtaking sunsets you’ll probably ever see. Beware – it’s freezing up there! 10,000ft is pretty high, huh? Be sure to bring a lot of layers!
(Hike Maui also does tours of Haleakala if you need some guidance!)

Ever wanted to rappel through a waterfall in Hawaii? Rappel Maui has got you covered. What about paraglide over the green countryside hills of Maui? Paraglide Maui can make your dreams come true.

There truly is an endless amount of things to do on this beautiful island!
